So this week I have decided to actually challenge myself a little and step up my writing game with Yeahwrite. It’s a blogging community that I’m in love with. I link up every week. You should check them out.
So no recipe for the week people’s! I am actually writing something.
My topic is going to be Henry. Big shocker there, huh? Well he has been doing some of the cutest things lately. He is now 1, as most of you know. The other day he got a hold of my hubs phone. His phone has a MP3 player on it, and somehow Henry has figured out how to mash the right buttons to get the thing to play Elvis. Really, I have no idea how he figures out these things. (He actually showed me how one of his toys worked a couple months ago. I had no idea the thing had a stop and start button to make it sing/not sing.) So he starts playing “All Shook Up” and starts swinging his shoulders all the while he is madly sucking his passy. And then the foot starts stomping. Picturing this in my head right now is seriously giving me a chuckle! I get the video camera out and he quits. Don’t you just hate that? So later I find him up on the kitchen chair. He has taken the phone with him and laid it on top of the table and proceeds to hold onto the back of the chair and is stomping his foot like crazy. As soon as he sees me, he looks at me and grins. He knows he is in trouble from being on the table, but he thinks his cute little smile and dancing will get him outta trouble. …well it did. What can I say? I’m a pushover. Ha.
Just to have them documented, here are a few other firsts from last month:
Shaking his head “no” .
Played with finger paints.
Got his first pets. Ducks.
Started running.
Started jumping…without leaving the ground.
Started brushing his teeth.
Slept till 9:00.
And yes, this week I am going to read ALL of the blogs and I think you should too!

Cute! I love that age when everything is a “first”!
It really is SO much fun! I find myself smiling all the time!
singing and dancing to All Shook Up? ADORABLE X1001
I always say kids make liars out of us. They do something so cute until you’re ready to show someone.
Oh definitely. He actually does have a vocabulary, but he speaks on his own terms.
That’s such a sweet age! I can just see him stomping his foot and shaking his shoulders. Precious!
Hahah those are awesome firsts! Ducks! Awwww.
Slept until 9? OMG I am so jealous! I hope you were able to sleep-in too!
Yep! I couldn’t believe it. 2 nights in a row! AND on the weekend which made it even better! I totally woke up before him and that NEVER happens.
I lol’d at this story too and that shaking head thing is the funniest ever!
He shook his head again at me last night when I was feeding him. He didn’t want pizza CRUST, he just wanted the pizza. Just like me. Geez.
Sounds like the sweetest Elvis impersonation ever! Ellen
All I can say is how adorable!!! And that I’m a total pushover too! Great post!
super cute
What a doll! You will be so glad to have all these great memories written down!
I know, I have a paint can at work all decorated up that has a ton of sticky notes where I just write random things down!
How sweet. They grow so fast, it’s great you’re writing this down so you don’t forget!
Sweet. Love the All Shook Up image. And the firsts. I enjoyed the glimpse into your world.
I love when little babies dance to rock and roll.

Oh Henry! You sound like a beautiful boy growing up!
Adorable! Dancing to Elvis…what a smart little guy
Working the cell phone and melting momma with a smile? Oh, you’re in trooouuuu-bllllleee
Oh, this I already know.
So sweet! I love all the firsts!!
Haha sleeping til 9:00, you must love that one.
And the ducks! Oh, the ducks!
deeeelishus! that baby boy sounds just like so much fun – when i was first a mom and my son was this age, i remember telling my mom that what surprised me is that I hadn’t expected to LAUGH so much – I had realize that in addition to being hard, exhausting, boring, loving, that I would laugh out loud all the time. So sweet, those little babes!
That is SO true! You laugh ALL the time with them! And when I smile really big, he just grins at me with the BIGGEST smile and I just melt even more! Ah, just so in love.
Thanks for putting “All Shook Up!” in my head. Great song!
They ALWAYS stop whatever cute face/dance/activity they are doing when you finally get the camera out. It’s Murphy’s Law. Fortunately you are documenting it and a picture is worth 1,000 words
So glad to get to know you and Henry better through your writing. Oh, the list of firsts! You know what, they never end…keep track of them and hold them all very very close!
